I think for my topic I should lean towards “Topical Local Anesthetic Allergies.”
There are 2 attachments in this email. The first attachment is the template of the paper with the correct margins etc. The second attachment is what all needs to be included in each section of the Literature Review paper.
This paper will be submitted in sections so that I can receive feedback from my instructor for each section that I turn in.
The first part of the submission is going to be the “Topic, Title, Introduction section, and Thesis statement.” I have highlighted the “Introduction” section directions in the first and second attachment, so please look at that before starting the paper.
Please follow each attachments very precisely.
My topic is “Allergy” and its relationship to/with/on the oral cavity.
For example, Rheumatological drugs (such as …) and their effect on the oral cavity. A topic this specific may be difficult searching for sources so you need to think this out better. First, you find literature on rheumatological diseases (and any oral manifestations of the disease?). Second, search the medications used in treating the disease. Then, you find info on the medication and its effect on the oral cavity. Once you have this material, you write your literature review on this information. Finally, in your discussion section you can go to town on combining/analyzing the information you found on this material.
Finally, I have also provided a definition for you for the thesis statement:
A thesis statement will appear at the end of the introductory paragraph of your paper. It is a concise summary of the main point or claim of the literature review. A thesis statement is usually 1-2 sentences. Thesis statement= your topic + your position on that topic
The thesis statement is developed, supported, and explained in the course of the paper by means of the literature review, discussion and conclusions.
Example: As the incidence of autoimmune disease continues to rise, additional education on recognizing, educating, and treating the oral manifestations of the disease as well as the adverse effects of the medications used to treat the disease is a necessity for the dental health care provider.
My literature review would intro the epidemiology of autoimmune diseases giving both past and current figures in order to show the increase. I would then look for studies about the oral manifestations of autoimmune diseases both from the disease itself and then the medications. I would then research the effective or palliative methods the research has identified as treatment of the different manifestations. My discussion would tie all of these together. My conclusion would “prove” my thesis-that dental provider need more education due to the increase in diagnosis-which in turn leads to increased likelihood of encountering the patient with the autoimmune diagnosis.
